Ever been in a situation in which you were supposed to pray for someone at 10:00 in the morning for some surgery or job interview, but you forgot!!?? If only you had prayed, things may have been different! "I have failed that person!!!" you may have thought.
Forgetting to pray is a perfect time for the Enemy to lay a guilt trip on you. Yes, you may be guilty of forgetting. You may have been too busy with something or lost track of time or you may be genuinely selfish and neglected your duty. One way or another, all is not lost. Heres why...
The blessed God of the Bible is not shackled by time and space as we are. Because of his access to extra dimensions of time and space He can do things which seem quite remarkable from our limited spacetime frame of only four little dimensions.
As to time, He does not have a past, present, and future like we do. He does not have a past life, nor does He look to the future. He is above and beyond that. He just is.
A filmstrip from a movie contains thousands and thousands of frames. Let’s assume we are in the audience watching this film and it’s about halfway through. The characters in the movie have had a past (the first half of the movie), they live in the present (what we are watching now), and they will have some future (the rest of the movie). But upstairs in the projection booth is a projectionist. He has a special privilege that we in the audience don’t. If he wanted to, he could unwind the film all over the booth and see each frame in whatever order he wanted, completely at his leisure. He could see skim over some frames, carefully examine others, edit out some. He know the beginning, the middle, and the end and the characters in the movie are unaware of it all. They live their ?lives? as if nothing is happening.
Here’s the connection. The Lord sees our film late in our story before the middle even happens from our point of view. He sees us on our deathbed, and sees us pick our nose, and sees us fall off the swings simultaneously. There is no too early or too late for Him. All is now.
So, a friend of yours asks you to pray for her at 10 in the morning. You forget, for whatever reason, until the afternoon. What to do?!
Pray.
The Lord, outside of our dimension of time, sees you - even before the creation of the universe! - praying for your friend who just had an operation from your point of view, honors your prayer, and applies it to what for you is your past.
Should you work on being more responsible? Sure! But dont throw away a prayer because of a limited conception of the extradimensionality of the Creator God. Pray anyway with faith.
Take God out of the box you may have put Him in and let Him be God.
