Baptize is from the Greek word BAPTIZO which means "to completely place into".
GUIDELINES FOR INTERPRETING SCRIPTURE:
- Establish the correct frame of reference.
- Make no conclusion until the whole Word of God has been examined.
- Interpret narrative scripture in the light of didactic (teaching) scripture.
- Take the scripture literally unless the context indicates otherwise.
- Find definitions for symbols within the scripture.
- Look for definitions of New Testament symbols in the Old Testament.
- Keep in mind that multiple fulfillment of prophecies is common.
- Be prepared to find more than one message in any given passage of scripture.
- Be aware of occasional problems of translations from the original language.
