Casting Pods Before Nine
We're podcasting a weekly... uhhh... well... podcast here at swordandspirit. No joke. And we're calling it The Edge, not after that guy from U2, but as an oft-used but appropo moniker for SWORDandspirit. Get it? Sword... edge... sharp... pointed... cuts two ways... will rust if not kept clean... can scare the heck out of people...
Should be "hosted" by Mark and Cam. And, we hope, another Aanestad, and a throwback from the past, Jaso, and a new guy named Terry, but we call him Kirley because that's his last name - and he has no hair.
Look here for what we hope are provocative points of view and rants and raves and reviews and other stuff.
We're on the iTunes Music Store, too! Which is kind of a groovy thing, for us anyway. The only other notoriety we've ever gotten that's this big is when... hmmm... oh, who am I fooling? We've never had free press like this or as big a chance to reach an enormous audience. Woo Hoo! We're excited!!!
Goin' to Mississippi...
Four of us here at S&S are planning on going to Mississippi to help Samaritan's Purse clean up around Biloxi during Thanksgiving Week. This is one wonderful organization, boy howdy! They are the same ones we were privileged to work for in NYC after 9/11. Go there to see their philosophy on helping others in the name of Our Lord.
Right now though, we'd like to ask for your support. It will cost $500-600 per person for the week. Right now we can send two of us - the yearly budget of TBN we have not! - and we'd obviously like to raise enough for the other two.
Please consider helping! :) :) :) PLEEEEEASE!!! But I will not beg!
It looks grrrrrrREAT! And I ain't Lion.
It's looking pretty good so far, my friends. We have here the teaser to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. This ain't no cheesy Christian-made film, ala those Revelation films or the TBN-financed classics or Psalty's Playhouse or whatever it's called! There are high production values here! Woo Hoo!!! Go see it here, then rejoice. Follow that up with a trip to narnia.com. We all get to walk through the Wardrobe December 9.
The same people who did the special effects for the Lord of the Rings are giving life to Narnia. And this time round Aslan ain't no big stuffed mechanical lion that is frightening just because it's so creepy, nyuh-uh. He looks like... like Aslan. ;)
Three Threats to World Peace.
Take a hard look at these hardened criminals, these subverters of the truth, these women who are trying to brainwash young children and send them straight through the gates of hell into eternal death.
These Indonesian women - these radical militant Christians - were sent to prison recently for three years for allowing some Muslim children to go to a Sunday School!!!! The infidels!!!
And this is one of the less violent stories, actually. These ladies of faith haven't had been through intense physical torture. They weren't sentenced to beheading. They weren't macheted into pieces.
What's happening in other parts of the world like China and North Korea and many Muslim countries is genuinely horrifying. And all these victims, including these ladies here, are our brothers and sisters.
The Voice of the Martyrs is the place to go to find out about what's happening around the world.
And from their site you can find out how to write the victims in prison, how to make your church aware of what's going on, how to support VOM as they advocate for the release of the imprisoned and the rights of the persecuted.
And maybe, just maybe, you will be that spark that will ignite your believing friends into some action; action other than sitting around and worrying about why switchfoot "sold out," and if that's one of the phials of The Revelation, or whether people with tattoos can be saved... I mean, you know... come on.

Take Tat! and Tat!!! and other stories

  • forum
Well, this place is a-hoppin'. There are a slug of new people there all spewing forth their opinions and asking their questions on a truckload of subjects. Come and join our happy little family in a place where you need not worry about expressing your ideas, even if they don't agree with the Truth... err... I mean our opinions. ;) It's sorta like a spiritual Cheers. Name a subject, it's probably there. And we sincerely want to hear what you have to say!!!
  • switchfoot
Their latest CD nothing is sound is wunderbar!!! Go get it and support these guys who are trying to make a godly dent into the devilish armor of the world.
  • another podcast
And there is another podcast you may be interested in. A weekly 5-minute layman astronomy offering from FirstLight, hosted by your supreme and humble commander at S&S, Mark. (Warning: There is a decidely spiritual bent to a lot of them. But don't tell anyone. ;) Or you can just read the articles from his newspaper column here.
  • tattoos
Cameron of forum and podcast fame, and Mark, supreme and... you know... went and got tattoos of the S&S logo. Cam on his forearm (here) and Mark on his leg somewhere (see his on the forum). Cam's is a little more ornate, Mark's simple and to the point - just like their thinking. ;) And don't hate them because of it. They both know what they were doing, and that they will be several levels below everyone else in heaven because of this action. It's all OK. They were meant to serve.
  • adam
Two friends of the ministry, Fuz Rana and Hugh Ross, have written a book Who was Adam? a real science book which supports the biblical claim that there was some sudden origin of man, out of nowhere (evolutionarily speaking). Hmmm... think the materialist thinker is a little ticked at this claim? You betcha!!! Get this book for your favorite evolutionist! (Note: We don't think evolutionists are evil. We think they are wrong in their interpretations of the fatcs of nature. They need Jesus, too. Amen!? Let's be nice.)
Thanks!
God's blessing on every one of you!
Please pray for us!
